Why
Teach
Music?

GREAT QUESTION!
Let me tell you why

I believe music is extremely important in the world. Music creates social cohesion, everywhere you go it is understood to an extent. Music is powerful and its ability to connect to people to one another is without question. I always had a feeling I was going to be a teacher of some sort, just was not sure what kind. After going the university orchestra and getting my foot in the music department door, that's when I knew I would be music ed. I feel as though school can be very challenging and draining at some points, I would like my classroom to be an area where my students can relax and have a space where they can feel safe to be their true selves, while at the same time teaching more than just "this is how you play this song." Music can teach students life lessons such as leadership, teamwork, confidence, individuality, and so much more. Grade-school students are in their most developmental stages of their life and music can teach them so much and help them discover who they are and assist them through many problems that life may throw at them.

“I’ll stop teaching when I stop learning.”
